Indonesia Export Ocean Freight: US · Europe · Southeast Asia

Key point: Indonesia is no longer just an import destination — more and more factories ship from Indonesia to the world. We load at Jakarta, Semarang and Surabaya and deliver to the US, Europe and ASEAN: fast-boat US West Coast in 14–16 days, GSP duty-free opportunity, Asia–Europe trunk services via the Singapore hub, and direct weekly sailings across Southeast Asia. Destination customs and inland delivery are coordinated end to end.

We have run the China → Indonesia trade lane for years. Now more clients ask for the reverse direction: factories are already in Indonesia (or capacity has moved from China), and the cargo must go from Indonesia to the world. This page explains our three export directions: which lane, how many days, what duty can be saved, and where the pitfalls are.

Southeast Asia: direct weekly services 🟢 fastest and most reliable

Singapore daily sailings, 2–4 days port to port; Port Klang, Laem Chabang, Bangkok, Ho Chi Minh and Manila in 5–11 days on dense weekly loops. Better still:

Semarang and Surabaya load directly on ASEAN weekly loops — factories in Central and East Java ship to Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia from their home ports, without trucking to Jakarta first. A new weekly Indonesia–Thailand service (2026) calls at both Semarang and Surabaya.
Form D cuts your buyer's duty — Indonesian exports within ASEAN enjoy preferential tariffs under Form D certificates of origin, a real cost lever in order negotiations. We arrange issuance.
Singapore2–4 days · daily sailings
Port Klang3–5 days · weekly
Laem Chabang / Bangkok5–9 days · weekly (direct from Semarang/Surabaya)
Ho Chi Minh / Haiphong5–11 days · weekly
Manila7–10 days · direct

United States: fast boats + GSP duty benefit

Two speed options — regular service 18–28 days to the US West Coast (LA/Long Beach/Oakland/Seattle) and 28–42 days to the East Coast (New York/Savannah/Houston); a fast-boat option reaches the West Coast in about 14–16 days for urgent replenishment, subject to advance booking.
GSP duty benefit: change the origin, save real money — Indonesia is a US GSP beneficiary: approx. 3,500 tariff lines enter duty-free with Form A (Indonesian value-added ≥35% required). For factories that moved capacity from China, this can also mean avoiding the 25% Section 301 additional duty on Chinese-origin goods — but origin must be clean: we confirm origin and value-added in writing before accepting any order.
The US leg is covered — destination customs handled by licensed US customs brokers, inland drayage across major West and East Coast corridors, DDP/DAP door delivery per shipment. ISF (10+2) filed 24 hours before loading to avoid USD 5,000 penalties.

Europe: the Singapore hub onto Asia–Europe trunk loops

There is no direct service from Indonesia to Europe — every box transships once at Singapore, Tanjung Pelepas or Port Klang. That is not a weakness: hub transshipment means more options and flexible space. What matters is setting the right transit expectation.

Full Europe coverage — Rotterdam, Hamburg, Antwerp, Felixstowe, Le Havre and the Mediterranean (Valencia/Barcelona/Genoa) on Maersk and Evergreen trunk services with weekly frequency.
EU–Indonesia CEPA direction — the EU and Indonesia have concluded a comprehensive economic partnership agreement moving approx. 98% of tariff lines toward zero duty (subject to entry into force and origin rules). Indonesian suppliers to Europe should build their origin compliance early.
Paperwork without surprises — EU ENS filing, importer EORI number and destination VAT (Netherlands 21%, Germany 19%, etc.) are all confirmed before booking; during Red Sea diversions we quote 32–50 days and never promise a transit we cannot deliver.

Which origin port fits you

Jakarta · Tanjung PriokIndonesia's largest gateway; widest lane coverage and densest schedules — the default choice.
Semarang · Tanjung EmasCentral Java's home port; direct ASEAN weekly loops, US/EU via transshipment.
Surabaya · Tanjung PerakEast Java gateway (Surabaya/Malang/Sidoarjo); second-densest direct coverage, strong in furniture, leather, food.

Why hand exports to an import specialist

Because both ends are ours: licensed PPJK customs clearance at our own Jakarta and Semarang operations, D/O direct with 15 carriers, pickup-export declaration-loading handled in-house; and at destination, vetted licensed brokers and drayage networks in the US and Europe. "Raw materials in, finished goods out" for your Indonesia plant can be closed under one accountable partner.
